A Horse A Chicken @ The Harley

Comedy 7 Comments »

On the farm lived a chicken and a horse, both of whom loved to play together.
One day the two were playing, when the horse fell into a bog and began to sink.
Scared for his life, the horse whinnied for the chicken to go get the farmer for help!
Off the chicken ran, back to the farm. Arriving at the farm, he searched and searched for the farmer, but to no avail, for he had gone to town with the only tractor.
Running around, the chicken spied the farmer’s new Harley.
Finding the keys in the ignition, the chicken sped off with a length of rope hoping he still had time to save his friend’s life.
Back at the bog, the horse was surprised, but happy, to see the chicken arrive on the shiny Harley, and he managed to get a hold of the loop of rope the chicken tossed to him.
After tying the other end to the rear bumper of the farmer’s bike, the chicken then drove slowly forward and, with the aid of the powerful bike, rescued the horse!
Happy and proud, the chicken rode the Harley back to the farmhouse, and the farmer was none the wiser when he returned..
The friendship between the two animals was cemented: Best Buddies,

Best Pals.
A few weeks later, the chicken fell into a mud pit, and soon,he too, began to sink and cried out to the horse to save his life!
The horse thought a moment, walked over, and straddled the large puddle.
Looking underneath, he told the chicken to grab his hangy-down thingy and he would then lift him out of the pit.
The chicken got a good grip, and the horse pulled him up and out, saving his life.

The moral of the story?? (yep, you betcha, there is a moral!)

Spam and Spam, Its All Crap.

Geez I have been getting a super huge amount of spam comments lately.  From porn all the way to colon cleansing herbs. I use Akismet and it works fairly well, but I still have to go thru a couple of comments each day that some how managed to get through. Each week I delete the spam that akismet has caught and it’s always in the thousands. That totally amazes me that people out there spend so much time sendingPu so much spam. All I wanna know is WHY?

Just Say No

Just Say No

Speaking of SPAM. Does anyone actually eat that crap?  It looks like dog food, and smells like dog food.  Who decided it would be cool for humans?  Why would anyone open it, look at it, smell it, and then say…oh yummy I want to eat this nasty looking, stinking crap?   I feel the same way about corned beef hash or whatever its called.  That is just nasty.  Just bend over and eat out of the doggy dish why don’t ya.  I wonder which costs more, dog food or spam?

What a Drag it is Growing Old

I have spoken about my mom and step-dad a lot in this blog. They mean the world to me. If we buy the house we have put a bid on, I will be living very close to them. They are getting up there in age and I worry about them. My baby sister worries the most. She is a Registered Nurse, and understands very well all of their medical problems. My step dad will be (I think) 72 next month, might be 73 I will have to ask my mother. My mom is no spring chicken herself and both of them have a slew of medical problems. Him, arthritis and diabetes, her, COPD, asthma, and arthritis. They get around, but it’s sad to watch them slow down like they have.  Sometimes I can see the pain in their eyes.

My sister is worried about them. She is worried that something  could happen to one of them, while the other wasn’t around. She is worried about one of them falling down, and really getting hurt and having to stay that way until someone came to help. If nobody knew one of them was in trouble, they could stay that way for some time. My step dad golfs three times a week, bless his heart.

A Medical Alert, that has a fall detector, and would alert the emergency agency would be a good idea. As would a GPS tracking bracelet that could be used like a cell phone, if my step dad was in an accident and needed help.  My sister and I  plan on discussing the different Medical Alert options available to us, the next time she comes down, which will be around Easter.  Of course we have to discuss it with our parents also, and present it in such a way that it doesn’t offend them or make them feel like we think they are feeble.  They both have a lot of pride and don’t like to be reminded about their age and health problems.

Genetics

Blogging 1 Comment »

My eyes have been bugging me lately. Not like bugging out, bugging me, but I think I have inherited my mothers side of the family’s dark circles under the eyes. I noticed as my grandmother got older the dark circles under her eyes got darker, and I am seeing it in my mother now also. I was looking in the mirror today, and low and behold, I can see that as I age, I am going to look exactly the same. Maybe tomorrow I will start looking for the best eye cream on the market. I know it’s genetic but I don’t want those dark circles.

My Bubcha

Here is a picture of my Grandmother. She must have been around 40 when this was taken (I think she is half crocked) haha. She was the most favorite person in my life. I adored her, just simply worshiped the ground she walked on. She was one super cool lady. I miss her a lot. I miss her late night calls when she had one too many “Iron City” beers, just calling to tell me she loved me. I can tell you this. I have her eyes.  Her mother, my great grandmother came over “on the boat” thru Ellis Island from Poland. I heard a lot of Polish being spoken while growing up. I think most of it was spoken in Polish so we wouldn’t know what the adults were talking about. Both sides of my family are from Poland. Most of them are dead now, and their ways died with them. Sad, because their ways were pretty damn cool.

House of Misery

Blogging 4 Comments »

This was one very miserable day. Usually I love long weekends but not this time. The weather down here sucks to max and I think it’s starting to get under everyone skin. Every single member of this family was cranky miserable today. Sort jabs thrown around left and right. With the weather being cold and damp, we stayed in. Don’t want the kids sick AGAIN….we just got over all that crap that seemed to last forever and we don’t want a repeat.

Mini Bug was mad and crying all day because she didn’t go to school. She has no comprehension of a day off or weekend or holiday. She will get a clue over time, but in the mean time I have to deal with her whining. Thank GOD she has school tomorrow. Mighty bug just cried and whined because Mini Bug was doing it I think. One would start then the other one would start. I had crying duets all day. My nerves are totally shot. I think searching for herbal colon cleansers would have been better than dealing with those two.

Then of course hubby and I were both cranky. Not a good combination. Partners should never be cranky at the same time. Makes for a very stressful day. I am glad this day is over. Hopefully, tomorrow will bring some normality back. Hubby at work, Mini Bug is school (big grin). Yes, tomorrow should be a much better day indeed. That is unless my 28 yr old decides to whine in my ear all day. If that happens, I might just lay him out cold.

The last time I watched the weather report, it showed that it’s supposed to start warming up around Friday. I can’t wait. I’m afraid to watch it again, in case it’s changed.

I was born in 1958, my mother was only 16 when she had me. My parents loved to listen to music, and had a huge collection of albums. Needless to say I grew up listening to the “oldies”. My mom would always play music while we were housecleaning, dancing and singing while dusting and vacuuming and cleaning the curtains and blinds. I still do this to this very day. I love to listen to the oldies while I am cleaning, in fact, my older sons grew up this way because of me, and now they do the same thing. It makes housework so much more fun, singing and dancing to the oldies while moping the floor, don’t ya think?

This is one of my all time favorite oldie but goodies. I have so many favorites, but this one gives me goosebumps.

Smile, Your on Hidden Camera

Blogging 2 Comments »

Florida is a great tropical state. If your looking for warm weather, palm tree’s, and beautiful beaches, this is the place for you.  But, Florida in my honest opinion also has a dark side.  There is a lot of crime down here, and way too many child molesters and predators.  Way too many children have been abducted right from their homes, while sleeping in their own beds.   This is my biggest fear.  When we lived in PA, we had a camera mounted high on a wall in Mini Bugz bedroom that we could view right on our computer monitor all night long.  We could see every inch of her bedroom and watch her sleep.  It also had sound.  We could hear a pin fall in her room.   When we moved down here to FL, everything happened so fast that we forgot about the camera.  It was still mounted to the wall when the house burnt down.

We were looking at hidden camera’s this past week.  How do you all feel about putting a hidden camera in your home?  Do you think it would be ok to put a Hidden Camera in a child’s room?  We were thinking, that a hidden camera that nobody could see or know they were being filmed in our childs room would give us that extra layer of protection.  Nobody would know it was there.

It seems that most children that are abducted, are taken by people that the family knows about.  People that take children from their beds out of their own homes, know the lay out of the house, they know where the child’s room is and even possibly know what the inside of the room looks like.  If we put a hidden camera in the room, then nobody would know it was there, and be able to  work out a plan to get around it. We were thinking about something like this:

We are also thinking that it might be a good idea to also have hidden camera’s outside of the house as well. What do you think? Is it bad to have hidden camera’s on your property and in your homes? What about if you use babysitters or Nannies, or even housekeepers. Would it be bad to have hidden camera’s in your home so that you can see what is going on in your home while your not there, and your child is being watched and supervised by someone else while you are out?

Cold In FL on Valentines Day

Blogging 3 Comments »

My husband ordered me a beautiful ring for Valentines Day. It arrived today UPS next day delivery. There was no way I was going to wait until tomorrow to open it, so I got my Valentines Day Gift today! Woohooo, I love it. Everything is so beautiful, the ring, the flowers, the chocolates.

It’s a long weekend and we really wanted to get away and do something this weekend, but the weather is so cold outside. We thought at taking the kids to Disney Land or Busch Gardens but it’s only 48 degrees outside. 48 degrees in Florida on the Gulf Coast. Now that sucks. It’s been cold down here since November. It’s really starting to get on my nerves.

We ordered the home inspection on the house we are thinking about buying. It came back with a few things that didn’t pass. We also ordered the appraisal which was done yesterday and we are waiting to hear the results back on that. I was calling around yesterday for free insurance quotes to see if I could find a lower price for homeowners insurance. Everything costs so much down here, and the homeowners has to be included in the loan processing and final closing. So, the next step will be seeing all the results. If the appraisal is lower than the bid we put in, we will make a new bid. The house is beautiful, no doubt about it. It’s also huge, I mean really huge. But the house has been in foreclosure for a year. It was left empty for a whole year. We will probably know by the end of this month if we are going to buy it or not. Keeping my fingers crossed.

Dr. Corny took the baby out this evening, to buy him some new clothes and to give me a break. Mini Bug is sound asleep, and I am in my glory with this “me” time. It doesn’t happen often and I am enjoying every single minute of it, it is bliss :) . My dad’s birthday is next month and I asked my mom what to buy him. She said something about Acid cigars. I said, huh? She didn’t know either, just that he mentioned it. He is a cigar smoker, so I guess I will have to look that one up and find out what it is, and order some for him. It’s really really hard to buy for a 72 year old man, actually he will be 73 next month. He golfs three times a week, but we all bought him golf stuff for Christmas so that’s out. At 73 you pretty much don’t really need anything and have everything. He loves going to Red Lobster, so maybe a gift certificate along with the cigars and a sugar free cake will make him happy. He is actually my step dad, but I love him and want him to be happy.
