I am out of sorts today. Today Dr. Corny begins his Doctor of Philosophy (Ph.D.) in Information Systems courses. He will be gone until late Sunday evening. This is the first time we have been apart for this long since we got married.
I better get used to this because he will be doing this 4 times a year for many years. At least 2 years for sure for all the courses to be completed. Then the dissertation process will begin.
Things are going to be stressful to say the least until we can fall into a family routine that works for all of us. Dr. Corny works full time, will come home and immediately go to his home office to work on his studies, which means I will be responsible for most of everything around here. Trying to keep the little ones entertained so he can study will be challenging to say the least, while also helping him out when I am able.
I am so proud of this man. Really I am. To me he is amazing. He is also one of the smartest people I know. He has a Masters in Nuclear Engineering, Masters in Information Systems (he earned his Masters with Honors) and now he is beginning his life long dream, to earn a Ph.D. All of this while working full time and family. He never gives up, he is always looking forward and he always wants to better himself. If I had a thumbnail portion of his brain, I would be pretty damn smart.

So I am here by myself for 5 days with the little ones. This should be very interesting. I plan on doing some deep deep spring cleaning while he is gone. Since he is not here, I can clean when I want, like at 3 am if I want to.
I have comments that need replied to, and even an award that was given to me by a dear blogging buddy. I will get to all that later tonight. Now I can type at night because he wont be here, and my typing wont wake him up

I have been reading about ST. Xavier’s online Master of Arts in Curriculum and Instruction. A good friend of mine was talking to me over the weekend. She is a school teacher back home. She wants to further her education, and really wants to get a Master Degree. I asked her why? Well, of course you earn more with a Masters then you do with a Bachelors, and she also told me that, she wants to get more education that will help her focus on literacy, diversity, integration of technology and get more of a interdisciplinary perspective in education.
Her life is very hectic, with working full time, and raising a family, she just doesn’t see how she can further her education. I suggested she look into one of the online programs. So I did some checking, and found an online MS Curriculum at ST. Xavier’s online Master of Arts in Curriculum and Instruction. I think this would be a perfect fit for her. She can work, and earn her degree at the same time. They have flexible class schedules that can easily fit into the most lifestyle, allowing you to further your education even for those that work, and have family to support. They are also accredited by the National Council for Accreditation of Teacher Education (NCATE). I wish her luck and success.

A Project Management certificate can give you the skills to lead and manage projects more effectively, and is also a credential that your current or future employers will recognize.
Project Management skills are needed whether you are a high profile Project Manager, Information Systems Directer, Engineering Manager, Student, or any other individual. A Project Management Certificate is for new or experienced Project Managers, and any other professional who manages and participates in projects at work.
You might be wondering why I am discussing Project Management Certificates and the importance of Project Leader skills here. My husband is the IT Director for the company he works for. He has an M.Sc.IIS. He has a lot of Projects that he is in charge of, the biggest being the implementation of a new ERP system for his company. While he did take a class or two in Project Management while earning his Masters Degree, he told me that wasn’t enough. He is thinking about getting a Certificate in Project Management and is going to recommend that several of the Department Supervisors do the same.
St Joseph University which is Regionally Accredited by the Middle States Association of Colleges and Schools, offers on line learning for their Project Management certificate, which is convenient for working professionals who are trying to balance, work, family and higher education, to earn higher and better wages.
Once you have earned your Project Management Certificate you will be able to improve your ability to lead and implement projects successfully, and apply what you learned in class directly to your work environment.
