I Can Do It

Blogging 2 Comments »

Wooohoooo. I got on the scale today, and about jumped for joy when I seen that I have lost 4 pounds! That put a huge smile on my face, and even though it was only 4 pounds, I swear I suddenly felt thinner. I know it’s all in my head, but I swear my steps seemed lighter. I am really trying hard, to lose these extra pounds that have glued themselves to my body. I am determined to become one of the many weight loss success stories. So, four down, and 21 more to go. I CAN do it.

My youngest sister is still down here with her kids.  Her son who is 14 soon to be 15 had his girl friend come down for a week.  It was so neat that he would bring her over to my house to visit us.   She is a very nice young lady and I do like her.  But then I love my niece and nephew soooo much.   I will be sad when they all back home to PA.   I can’t wait until her husband can retire and she can move down here permanently.  So, I have been busy with family, and that is a good thing.

How to Prepare for a Move

Guest blog post from Alex Castlen

Being a realtor, I see first hand buyers and sellers of homes preparing for the big moving day. Whether you are a buyer or a seller, moving can be a stressful and hectic time. It does not have to be if you prepare! Some steps I have offered: Don’t delay–start making your moving preparations as soon as you know you are picking up roots. Get moving materials–get more than you think you might need, and save on being sorry later. Get rid of items no longer used or needed–sell at a garage sale or donate. Call in a moving company or invite friends or family–a reliable moving company that is insurance bonded is vital, and check references.

Label boxes or storage containers–pack according to rooms such as “kitchen”, “bathroom”, “kid’s room” ect. Have one box for pertinent items that must be reached quickly–such as keys, phone numbers, toilet paper, tooth brushes, personal items, ect. It is also important to pace yourself. Know your schedule and the schedule of the movers (if using company) so everyone shows up on time and at the right addresses. Buyers and sellers, especially in closely timed real estate closings, need to know when they need to be moved out by–or face possible monetary penalties. Invest and sign up for home security through my local ADT dealer Minneapolis –be prepared from the start and avoid problems.

Baby It’s Hot Outside

I am back. Holy Cow it is so freaking hot out there that even Mini Bug who went with me was crying to go back home. I feel like I could throw up. When I opened the car doors after leaving the store, the heat hit us so hard it felt like a furnace blast. It was steaming hot outside and the heat coming out of that car was 100 times hotter! Mini Bugz looked at me and said, I am NOT getting in a that hot car. I said, your right. So I started the car and turned on the a/c. Then took my time putting the items I bought into the trunk, and waited a few minutes out in the scorching heat for the car to cool down. I’ll tell you this, I don’t have to worry about looking for appetite suppressants because with this heat, I have NO appetite at all.

So I got Mini Bugz into the cooler car and drove home. We were so happy to enter our nice cool home. I put my swimming suit on and I will soon be out swimming in the pool.

Up and Running

It’s already in the 90’s and I have to go out in this heat to shop.   My husband asked me to look for some office furniture. He would like to have a new desk, and he needs another filing cabinet. I don’t know why he can’t do this himself. He does do a lot of things for me, so I won’t complain. In fact, he just got an oil change on my car for me. I would rather shop I suppose then sit and wait while my car got it’s oil changed.

So, I am heading out into this high humid heat, wish me luck. Hopefully I can get in and get out quick. Maybe I will put off the furniture he wants until later ;)

I feel like maybe a zombie would feel.  I got about 2 hours sleep last night.  Can’t blame the kiddo’s this time, I just could not sleep.  I was bone dead tired, but sleep would not come.   My mind just wasn’t peaceful.  Now I am paying for it today big time.   My butt is dragging and the kids are over the top active.  I’ve been trying to get Mini Bug to take a nap, but I don’t think that is going to happen.  That girl can run on empty for hours and hours.  I would love to have just a pinch of her energy.   I wonder if I could go through the disability appeal process for lack of sleep LOL.

More to come when my brain works a bit better ;)

Always a day late and a dollar short.

Another long day here at the bugz house.   I forgot to mention earlier that a week before our picnic, we ordered a new wicker table and chairs for outside on the lanai.  We were having a lot of people over and didn’t have enough outside seating.   Low and behold, the table did come in time, but not the chairs.  They arrived today.  Wonderful.  I needed them for the picnic.  But at least I have a beautiful new wicker table and chairs, to add to the rest of the stuff out there.  When I have time and remember I will take some pictures.

My oldest son called me today. So far they are loving it down here in FL.  He took his family to the local beach, and he said the kids had a great time.  I told him to travel just a little bit further down south, and the beaches are much much better.   He has my second oldest son (the troublesome one) living with him, and he promised me that he would take over concerning him.  I really hope he can.   He told me today that he and his brother and going to start weight lifting again.  He was talking about stuff like getting my other son to start taking some kind of protein powder and working at getting him back in shape. Good luck with that I said.

I have a ton of online work to get done, so don’t mind me while I have to plug away, post after post ;)

Gawd, after this past holiday weekend, I feel like a fat cow! I am starting to dislike holidays, just because of the eating! Now I need to figure out how to lose weight fast!!

You would think that with all the humidity and heat down here, I would just sweat it off, but nooooo, my body holds on to it for dear life. You would think that with all the running around I do all day chasing kids, and the swimming etc, that I would be able to eat whatever I want when I want. Noooo again. I swear to Gawd, that if YOU eat it, I will gain. What the heck kinda body do I have. I want to trade it in for a normal one, one that doesn’t work against me. I think I might just super glue my freaking lips shut, and just leave an opening for a straw. Nah, that wouldn’t work. The first time I caught the kids using the bed as a trampoline, and yelled, I would pull the skin right off my lips hahaha…I must be demented, because I actually laughed out loud typing that!

Sorry everyone, I have been so over the top busy, that I just didn’t have the time or energy to put a personal post up. In fact, I am still so tired, I am yawning as I type this.

My youngest sister and her whole family is down here on vacation.  So, her and her family plus her sons girl friend were here on Sunday, plus my mom and dad and my oldest son and his family of 6.  There are 4 of us, so there were a total of 17 family members here.  Then the neighbor showed up with her daughter which took us to 19.

There was a lot of food cooked and bought.  We had hot dogs, hamburgers, bbq chicken, and I even made stuffed cabbages.  We had potato salad, pasta salad, and cheesy potato casserole.  Baked Beans, and corn on the cob.  A huge fruit salad was made for desert.  Plenty of soda pop and kool aide also.  Of course we had chips and pretzels and plenty of  tortilla chips and salsa.  The way the men were eating, I am thinking they might need the best colon cleansing there is out there. ;) .

Everyone had fun swimming in the pool, and when the sun went down, my sisters husband set off some pretty impressive fire works. So did the whole neighborhood was there was plenty of ohhing  and awwwing going on. The kids loved it.

Five Steps to Home Protection While on Summer Vacation

Blogging 2 Comments »

Guest blog post from Harold Maker

It’s time for a relaxing summer vacation on a tropical beach in the Caribbean or in the cool mountain air of the Rockies. The last thing I want on my mind is worrying about the security of my home while I’m away. So before setting the alarm sensors, locking the doors and leaving home, I follow these five simple steps to ease my worries and ensure my relaxation.

1. I give a spare key to a trusted family member– Having family check on the house, pick up mail and newspapers, gives the appearance of traffic in and out of the home to deter any potential burglars.

2. I arrange for my lawn to be mowed– Letting the lawn grow unfettered while away gives the appearance that no one is home. So I make sure my lawn service keeps my lawn well groomed in my absence.

3. I lock the garage door– Locking the manual lock bracket on the garage door makes it difficult for burglars to use this as an entry point.

4. I unplug all non-essential appliances and electronics– Unplugging non-essential appliances and electronics can prevent electrical shorts and surges, which can cause a fire to erupt.

5. I leave strategic lights on a timer.

Now I’m ready to embark on my worry-free vacation and return to a safe and sound home.
