Well, for the next two weeks, I will be putting to test the old saying “what doesn’t kill you will only make you stronger” and the saying “absence makes the heart grow fonder”.
My husband has to travel out of the country on business starting tomorrow for the next two weeks. That leaves me alone here with the two little ones for two whole weeks. He leaves tomorrow and I am already in a panic. Yes I can do it, but I don’t want to!!!! It’s going to be hard, really hard. To make matters even worse, they both love their daddy very much. They wait for him to come home from work each day, and when he walks through the door they are all over him. He has to pick each of them up at the same time and hold them or they cry. Yikes, I am in for some troublesome days ahead.
School starts on Monday, so hopefully that will help a bit with the 4 yr old. But the year old is not going to understand what is going on at all.
I will try to keep them so busy that they wont have time to think about too much. That and a lot of shopping . In fact my one son who still lives in PA is having a baby next month, so I do have to do a lot of shopping for the new baby, and get it shipped. Or I could go on line and do the shopping and have it shipped right from the site. Or, I could do both A friend of mine told me about Peg perego so I want to check that site out, and maybe do some Xmas shopping for my grand children. Maybe I will go shopping during the days with my 2 yr old and then in the late evenings while they are both down for the night, I will shop on line to keep myself busy. I know after a while I am no doubt going to start to miss my husband and get lonely.
Today was a super long day. The kids were over the top active and my behind was dragging hard for most of the day. We had some hard thunder storms come through the area around 2 am and the thunder was really strong and loud and the lightening was cracking hard. It woke the kids up and both of them were crying. So I got little sleep last night.
I just got both of them bathed and down for the night. I am exhausted and feeling old and tired. What I am longing for is a nice vacation. But…haha there is always a but isn’t there. I want a vacation with my sisters and their families. Why would I want that?? So that I would have all that extra help!! My sisters love the kids and their kids love my kids also. If we all went on vacation together, I could actually enjoy myself because there would be tons of people around to watch and play with the kiddos. So, I am thinking…hmmm I say to myself, where would I find a place that we could all go to and be able to all stay together in the same place. Also, I wanted to find a half way place between PA and FL. My sisters live in PA and we live in FL. So, I started searching and lo and behold I came across Carolina Designs!
This place is absolutely perfect! I fell in love with it immediately! I am not joking when I say they have the finest beach homes for rent on the Outer Banks of North Carolina. So, I sent the Outer Banks vacation rentals link to my sister had her take a look at it also. She emailed me back and was in total agreement with me. She loves the idea also. She suggested that we look into: #708 – CINCO PALMAS
17 Bedrooms (6 Masters) Oceanfront in Nags Head. So I did! Oh My Gawd is all I can say. This place is drop dead gorgeous! And HUGE!! You could get lost in this house. I want this so very very much. Even the prices are fantastic. Because we would be splitting the cost 4 ways, it will actually be cheaper to stay here for a week, then it would be for us to go on vacation by ourselves and try to rent a condo on the beach somewhere.
The special features for this house are: Private pool, Hot tub, ELEVATOR (holy cow,can you believe that), gas fireplace 14 TVs, VCRs, stereo with CD player, rec room with pool table and TV,2 high chairs, 2 pack n plays; 2 gas grills, cabana with outside bar and sauna. Special access amenities. Dogs allowed. Parking for 16 cars.
My mother and step father can now come with us also, because this place allows PETS! They won’t go anywhere without their little shih tzu who they consider their baby! Hooray!!! It’s very hard to find places that accept pets.
Click on the link and check it out for yourselves, don’t just take my word for it. In fact check out all their rentals, they are all just as great!
Here are some pictures that I swiped from their site…I’m going to be dreaming about this place tonight for sure!
Look what I got! A new Gruene Duel Steam Cleaner I really like this steam mop, and it does help me with my house work. I was looking at the different steam cleaners and I was torn between getting this one or the shark steam mop. I have decided that I like the Gruene Steam Cleaner the best, mostly because of the attachments. The attachments are amazing. It has an attachment for windows, and a special attachment for getting real close to things that you want to pressure steam clean. I read in the manual that the window attachment can also be used to steam clothes. I will try that out the next time I need to iron something, if it works well, that in itself will save me tons of time and energy. As I stated in my little video, I love this machine because I don’t have to use any chemicals. Everything is cleaned and disinfected with steam. Let me tell you, this baby gets hot! The steam is the same as boiling water. It heats up super fast, and it cools down really fast also.
I also want to try this out, using one of the brushes that come with the attachments, on my lanai furniture. I have wicker furniture outside and with the hot and super humid Florida summers, things can grow mold real fast. I want to see how nice and clean it all gets with hot steam instead of the cold water from the pressure washer that we use. I will let you all know when I test that one.
This video cracks me up! If you notice, there are times when I pause between my words….that is because what you DON”T see happening is my 2 yr old standing behind me pulling my shorts down while I was talking. I was trying to pull my shorts back up and not move the camera at the same time.
Late last night, I had to take my nitro’s again. This morning I woke up with a sinus infection. Guess a trip to the Dr’s is going on my to do list. I hate sinus infections…they hurt. I am concerned that I had to take my nitro’s last night. I am hoping …really hoping that I only had chest pain because I have been more active then I should be, and yesterday while I was in the pool with the kids, I was catching them while they jumped in the pool.
Last night my oldest son came over and I kept my middle grandson to spend a couple of days with us. He is such a good kid. Quiet, and polite. I enjoy his company and he plays well with the kids and keeps them busy and occupied..which of course is a plus for me I am thinking I will help his parents out and buy him some new school clothes while he is here. They have 4 kids to buy for and I am sure they would appreciate the help. They are all good kids really, but I can only handle one at a time. My two plus one more is a handful. Not as hard as trying to find a North Carolina health insurance plan, but then I live in Florida and don’t need to find it anyways
Hubby went out with our grandson this morning, looking to find new bar stools for the kitchen. I hope he can find something nice. I am thinking he will probably come back empty handed. I don’t know why we have such a hard time finding things we like.
Because I don’t feel so hot today, I am going to take it easy, and have a lazy day.
School will be starting on the 23rd of this month. Yipppeeeee!!!!. I can’t wait! They changed the hours this year (I don’t know why, I never know anything). Mini Bugz wont be starting school until 9:30 am. Again..yipppeee, no running around in the mornings and rushing like a mad woman while I am still trying to wake up! Another victory for me, is…drum roll…Mini Bug will be riding on the bus this year. I won the battle of the bus stop, and now she will be picked up and dropped off at the bottom of our drive way. No more driving her to school and picking her back up!!!! Yep I am a happy camper this year for sure.
Since Mini Bugz has a uniform dress code at her school (yep even in PreK) shopping for her new school clothes was easy. She got a new pair of tennis shoes and new socks and hair accessories etc. The hardest part of the shopping was for the school supplies. The list was long, and very specific.
There was one item on the list, that sent my whole family out shopping, we couldn’t find this item anywhere! BINGO DAUBERS. She had to buy 2 of them, didn’t matter the colors. I haven’t played Bingo in a trillion years, and nobody in my family goes to play Bingo either. I don’t even know where a Bingo hall is down here. So, after going to store after store, and asking over again, do you carry Bingo Daubers and having each and every single store clerk, stop and just stare at me for a few seconds before repling, I don’t know maybe check in toys or stationary ( they ALL said the same thing), I finally called my mother and sisters, and sent them all on a Bingo Dauber quest. My mother finally found them at a flea market!! So, that part is finally finished, Mini Bugz is now the proud owner of not 2 but 4 Bingo Daubers. I have no clue what they need them for. Do 4 year olds play Bingo? I dunno.
The only thing left to buy is class snacks. I have no clue what to get. I will call the school later this week and talk to her teacher about this. She needs to bring in snacks and drinks. I have no idea how much, or what is allowed. But it’s all good and she is anxious to start school again. I am anxious also .
My youngest sister and her family went home, and now my other sister is down here with her daughter. I am seeing my family more now that I moved to Florida then I ever did when I lived closer to them. Amazing.
Actually we are all getting closer. Funny how age does that huh. My mom and dad (step) and my sister and her daughter all came over last night and we spent a nice time out on the lanai talking and laughing. My husband really likes this sister because she likes to go running with him in the mornings when she is down here. He likes to have the company.
She told me that she would like to go with me today to look for furniture for my formal living room. Nope we still haven’t found what we want yet for that room. Maybe I should just learn how to design furniture, because I haven’t seen anything that I like yet for that huge room. I’m not going to buy furniture that I don’t like just to fill that room. Until I find what I want, that room will stay empty. Maybe I will see something this weekend.
It’s really really hot outside, and there has been no break even in the evenings. The lows have been in the 80’s. Thank goodness we have 2 central air units in this house, or I would melt!
I have crepe myrtle in my front yard and it’s all in bloom and absolutely beautiful. With the red and pink crepe myrtle and the white magnolia that is also in bloom again, my front yard looks so pretty. I’m content.
It’s summertime and the kids are home for vacation. But someone has to pay the mortgage and sadly, that would be YOU.
Not everyone has the luxury of sending their kids off to day camps. Not everyone can afford a nanny. Some of us are working just to pay the bills.
Some of us are putting the safety of our youngest children in the hands of our oldest children. Some of us are brave!
I’ve really tried to raise my children to work as a team. As a large family, the oldest help out with the youngest. It’s part of the joys (and angsts) of being a big group.
And so while my husband and I are away during the day, making money to pay the mortgage and put food on the table, our oldest is home tending to the flock.
He’s passed all of the babysitting courses with first aid training and CPR. He’s got the skills to apply a band-aid or cold compress. But one of the things that we have had to drill in to him is that when they are going in and out, in and out, in and out the back door to play in the backyard, they MUST lock the door. It seems so simple but this has been our biggest safety challenge.
Installing a home security alarm has been effective in breaking this habit. We also put an adt signin front of our house so that people know we have an alarm. We feel better when we’re away knowing that the alarm WILL go off regardless of whether the door is locked or not.
