I spent yesterday at my moms. We had dinner there, and then her neighbors came over who adore the kids. I had a splitting headache and didn’t really feel like going out, but my husband insisted…so we went. It’s a good thing that he likes my parents so much I guess, but parents and headache just don’t go hand in hand.
He talked to them about going with us on our next mini vacation. He wants to go the day after Thanksgiving. I don’t mind, as long as he gets a place on the beach…I mean, open my door and I step out on the sand. It’s too hard to lug the kids and everything else to the beach if you have to walk it.
The last place we stayed was excellent, and I actually wouldn’t mind going right back there again. We went to Fort Meyers and stayed at Outriggers resort…it was absolutely perfect. But…he likes to see new places and sites, so we wont be going back there this time. Plus the fact that I think his pride is bruised because he locked his keys in the car while we were there and he had to call for roadside assistance. He probably doesn’t want to show his face again anytime real soon..men are weird that way.
We will have to try to find a place on the beach that accepts pets. My parents have a shih tzu (so do we) and they will not, under any circumstance leave her behind. We have a “babysitter” for our dog. Nice lady who watches her while we are gone..we just drop her off and pick her up. My parents would never go for that..their dog is like their kid. Old people get weird like that.
Lots of other stuff going on around here, but I will save that for another post…sniff sniff…phew..baby needs a diaper change.

I’m old and I’m weird like that. We take our dog almost everywhere, so I understand your parents’ point of view here. They are indeed like a kid.
I hope you get your mini vacation worked out soon and you can have that wonderful beach as you wish.
Have a terrific day. Big hug.

Sandee, my grandmother was the exact same way, and I can remember as a child my mom laughing at her about treating her dogs like her babys. Now it’s my mom doing the same thing. My mom is only 16yrs older than I am, so I could say that I would probably be doing the same thing at her age, EXCEPT I will still have kids at her age and will be raising them until the day I die! The pets won’t be replacing the kids in my life time

also…it’s really hard to find a nice place down here that accepts pets. This is going to take a lot of searching.
