Biden-Palin Debate

Biden-Palin Debate

I have so many thoughts and emotions running thru me and my head right now, I don’t know if this post will make sense or if I will be able to put down in words how I am feeling accurately.

I watched the debate tonight. I couldn’t wait to watch this debate. I wanted to see more of Palin, I wanted her to redeem herself from the recent press she has been getting lately as a walking idiot. Don’t get me wrong, there is no way on God’s green earth that I would vote for McCain, but in fairness I don’t think Palin is an idiot. I don’t think she is a good choice for VP right now, but she didn’t get where she is today by being an idiot. So in fairness, I wanted to see the woman, show us what she is made of.

I also wanted to watch Biden. I wanted to hear him, see him, get a sense of what he thinks and feels. If he came across real, or more of the same, I will promise you steak and feed you bullshit.
I feel Biden was a gentleman during the whole debate. I don’t think he put on kid gloves for Palin, but he was polite, and never once did I see him smirk, laugh (with that McCain sneer like laugh) or talk down to her. That impressed me..a lot.

Palin made me laugh, when she jokingly said, “say it ain’t so Joe” or something to that affect, and the debate didn’t have me on pins and needles and nerves pulled tight. I felt good after the debate. I got to hear both sides, I got to hear them banter back and forth, with no rudeness, no sly snickering. They actually faced each other and smiled at each other several times. How refreshing. McCain should actually take pointers from Palin. She did an excellent job, considering how new she is and like she said, she’s only been at this for 5 weeks. I’m still not voting for her, because McCain is..well…Bush! And I don’t agree with most of her beliefs, like rape and abortion, etc. But I can like her as a person, nevertheless.

I really liked Biden. I feel he has a stronger grasp of the everyday middle class working people. I feel he knows what we are really going thru. When he made the statement, that his father taught them, that “when you get knocked down, you stand right back up”, I sat up in my chair, and yelled, “that’s right”! (must be because I’m a Pittsburgh Girl at heart) Bush might have knocked us down, but let me tell you, American’s will ALWAYS stand right back up. You can’t keep us down.

This part of the debate moved me. I did know about this, but watching him talk about it, well…made him even more real. Parenting isn’t always about mom’s now is it.
Did you watch the debate? What did you think? How did you feel when it was over?
